UK companies express interest in the Philippine market
In its aim to assist more UK businesses targeting to enter the Philippine market, the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (BCCP) organised a webinar, a web-based seminar, on Doing Business in the Philippines last Thursday, 30th July 2015.
Over 21 UK firms showed interest in the Philippine market and actively participated in the webinar. The participants came from various sectors such as food and beverage, tourism/leisure, software and technology, consulting, export trading, water management and energy. These UK-based companies are either looking at setting up a business in the country or exporting their products to the Philippines.
Board of Investments (BOI) Director for Investments Assistance Service (IAS) Domingo Bagaporo gave an informative discussion on setting up of business and the advantages and opportunities in the Philippines. To further engage the attendees, COO Gordon Tainton of Paywizard, a British company based in the Philippines, and Ms. Moira Brown, Senior Vice President for HR Corporate Communications and Change Management, another British firm gladly shared their experiences and insights in doing business in the country. The presentations were followed by Q&A, particularly on BOI Investment Priorities Plan (IPP), incentives, and market opportunities.
The attendees were very pleased as time was managed well and the topics discussed were comprehensive and relevant to their needs. In addition, a number of participants requested to have another session which deals with exporting to the Philippines. With the success of this event, it is expected to draw more UK businesses to invest and do business in the country. BCCP is set to hold another webinar in September this year, which will focus on exports and which will surely engage more UK businesses in the Philippines.
