Signing of the MOA between BOI and DENR-EMB
The Board of Investments (BOI) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) recently entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will jointly facilitate the applications for Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) of BOI registered applicants in accordance with existing environmental laws, rules and regulations.
This initiative highlights the impact of providing extra assistance to investors in terms of securing ECC applications. Under the MOA, BOI staff or representatives will be allowed to assist in the submission as well as to follow-up on the applications for ECCs or to transact with EMB in behalf of BOI-registered/applicant enterprises.
This scheme will reasonably reduce the processing time for ECC applications to a timeframe of twenty (20) working days only for non-environmentally critical projects and forty (40) working days for environmentally critical projects in accordance with DENR Memorandum Circular No. 2010-14. This is one of the high impact services under the “Going the Extra Mile” project of the BOI. The said MOA took effect on 12 March 2014.
