The Philippines will participate in GAMESCOM 2016 in Cologne, Germany on August 17-21, 2016 to showcase homegrown talents from the game development and animation sectors in a bid to capture the attention of major European players.

Game development and animation are two industries of the creative services umbrella that have the potentials to make a big impact in the international market. Filipinos are known to be highly creative and skilled in game development, animation and design.

The country has one of the most highly regarded game programmers in Asia, developing a wide variety of games for different platforms in mobile, desktop, console and the web. The computer and application programming competence has been nurtured over two decades of developing games dating back to the early 1990s. The workforce is also equipped with the skills to perform 2D and 3D art and animation, character illustration, graphic arts, motion capture services, and music and sound production.

The talent and creative instinct of the Filipino make the Philippines a natural partner of big international production outfits. Aside from competitive costs of services, companies can rely on consistent quality and speed in delivering output, and ability to comprehend concepts and story lines better than most other service-providing countries.

The participation of industry players in the event is organized by the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) in coordination with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Berlin and the Game Development Association of the Philippines (GDAP).
