Eyeing the US$5 Billion Market: PH steps up efforts to promote healthcare info mgmt, Holds investment roadshow in the US key markets
Aiming to reach its US$5 Billion target revenue by 2020, the Philippines is further stepping up efforts in aggressively promoting the country as an investment destination of choice for Healthcare Information Management SystemBusiness Process Management (HIMS-BPM) especially in key markets in the United States of America (USA).
The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) in collaboration with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Washington DC, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) is conducting a HIMS-BPM Roadshow in the USA including the local industry players’ participation to the 2017 Health Information Management System Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
Slated on February 17 to 25, 2017, the country awareness branding roadshow aims to promote the Philippine HIM-BPM industry’s competitive advantages, strengths, and capabilities to leading HIMSBPM investors, decision makers, delegates, and visitors that will participate in the HIMMS Exhibition, conferences and business meetings.
“We want to position our country and our people as the best in providing services needed by investors in the BPM sector. Our people are highly competitive and our economy is getting stronger. With these factors, we are more confident by now that we can attract more US companies to invest in the Philippines in the coming years,” said Trade Undersecretary for Industry Promotion Nora Terrado.
The HIMS sector, as one of the leading industries in the country, has significantly provided employment opportunities to thousands of local nurses and to the growing BPM sector. In 2014, it had 86,000 full-time employees and is expected have reached number 135,000 as of end 2016.
The activity is the second HIMS-BPM Roadshow of the Philippines in the USA. Last year, the BOI together with HIMAP, PTICs and Consulates in the USA conducted its first roadshow covering key business areas New York and Chicago and the participation to the 2016 HIMS in Las Vegas, Nevada. Given the primary objective of the roadshow to mount promotion efforts for the HIMS-BPM sector to build awareness and market the PH country brand to the sector’s target market, initial engagements by the delegation with prospective healthcare investors and players resulted in the generation of investment leads. A number of visitors to the PH Pavilion even expressed keen interest either to partner with Philippine companies or to conduct potential inbound visits for possible setting up of business operations in the country.
“To continue building up interest gained from the first roadshow, the Philippines is further sustaining its strategic investment promotion efforts by conducting another one this year including participation in exhibitions and conferences such as the HIMMS Conference. These efforts send a strong message to the US market that the Philippines is more than ready to take on their investments and service their requirements,” said Trade
Undersecretary for Industry Promotion Nora Terrado.
Undersecretary Terrado will be heading the Philippine business delegation composed of officials from BOI, and players in the IT and HIMS-BPM services industry who will take the lead in presenting the Philippine business case to US investors and decision-makers.
The roadshow will cover four legs in the strategic business centers in New York, New York; Orlando, Florida for the participation to the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition; Houston, Texas; and San Francisco, California.
The Philippine delegation’s participation to the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida from 19 to 23 February 2017 is the highlight of the roadshow where about 40,000 IT and HIM professionals, executives and vendors from around the world will gather, making a great potential for a powerful networking opportunities for the Philippines.
